Famous Quotes
When I was less than half the age I am now, I had one wall of my room painted with my favorite quotes. Among them were some I can remember quite well but not who said them like:
"The earth is blue like an orange."
(Just Googled it, it was written by the surrealist Paul Eluard.) Or that famous quote by the great Mikhail Bakunin, that rings so true today in my country:
"Freedom without Socialism is privilege and injustice and Socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality."
that I remember quite well. Also among them was a phrase by Che Guevara, that I can't remember at all and one by Simón Bolivar, namely:
"Unamonos y seremos invencibles."
("Let's unite and we shall be invencible.")
Today I saw that phrase in some Official Graffiti, excuse me, Murals, by the Mayorship of Caracas. I don't know if it was the speed, a freudian slip, or just a tad of reality that, finally, seep into my mind, but I swear I read:
"Unos monos y seremos inservibles."
("Some monkeys and we shall be useless.")
