Hack the World!
Snow laughing matter. They're thinking if we paint all roofs white, we could reduce global warmin...mimicking the polar ice caps.
Hackin the world 1.0? [digg]
John von Neumann once gave a talk about how we should paint the polar ice caps black to melt them and make the weather more pleasant in northern territories. He even claimed to have made calculations that things would be fine, it would only be a couple of degrees on average. And that's the problems with ideas like this. We really don't know what could happen. Although our models are very likely better than von Neumann's we still do not know the consequences. What we know is that things are delicately interconnected.
