Gateway closes stores, future strong for Apple retail. Gateway Inc. plans to close its entire network of 188 retail stores next week and lay off about 2,500 staff, the PC maker announced Thursday. Despite the downturn for Gateway, analysts believe the problems are associated with the company and not the larger retail market. Through its branding efforts, store locations and unique products, analysts feel Apple is well positioned in the retail market. [MacCentral]

No joke indeed. Philipp Lenssen, in my comments, points to his own Google Blogoscoped research where he found screenshots, patents and more. He also answer strongly and correctly to this nonsense from news.com

Why Gmail gives me the creeps. CNET News.com's Charles Cooper says the big thinkers at Google should go back to the drawing board and correct a big mistake before it's too late. [CNET News.com]

Great! He saves me from writing something about it! Thanks Phillip!
